Hi!! I\u2019m Lena Abdelmageed. I grew up in Saudi Arabia and moved to the United States about a year ago, so my first year at Macalester was also my first year figuring out Minnesota weather! I\u2019m on the pre-med track majoring in Neuroscience, and I\u2019m also considering a double major in Data Science. I\u2019m really interested in how the brain works, especially decision-making, learning, and the connection between science and medicine. Outside of class, you’ll usually find me exploring new coffee and boba shops and spending time with my friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s your favorite memory from freshman year?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite memory from freshman year was our “study nights,” which were usually 30% studying and 70% chatting, laughing, and convincing ourselves we’d start working “in five minutes.” Somehow, we always got everything done, and those nights became some of my favorite memories.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hi! My name is Carina, and I’m from Madison, Wisconsin. In high school, I worked with kids as a camp counselor, and in 2023, I volunteered at a youth program in the Dominican Republic. I’m currently on the pre-med track, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Spanish and a concentration in Community & Global Health. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, spending time outdoors, hanging out with friends, and trying new restaurants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s your favorite memory from freshman year?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite memory from freshman year was traveling to Philadelphia with my teammates to compete in the Bioethics Bowl national competition!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hi! My name is Henry Levy and I’m from Oberlin, Ohio. I’m planning to major in either math or statistics but enjoy learning new things besides that! Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending my time playing guitar, going on long walks down Summit Ave, and reading. Last year, I enjoyed my time in LoC volunteering at the Division of Indian Work and getting to know the kids and other volunteers there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite memory from freshman year was convincing my professor to let us tie-dye shirts in my first year course on the last day of classes!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

My name is Theara. I use she\/her pronouns and am from Cambodia. I am planning to major in economics, though my true passion lies in being on a plane heading for new adventures! Volunteerism has always been a part of who I am, and during my first year at Mac, I had the privilege to volunteer at the Commonbond community and be a part of an inspiring cohort of LoC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s your favorite memory from freshman year?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favourite memory from freshman year was my staycation at a cabin at the Boundary Waters!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hello! My name is Charlotte Parker, and I am originally from San Francisco, CA. I am an Anthropology major who is also considering adding an International Studies Major. I participate in Women’s Club Lacrosse and will begin an internship at the Binger Center for New Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My passion for social justice first began when I interned at the San Francisco Superior Court as a judicial aide in high school. I also spent time at the Community Justice Center where I became passionate about criminal justice reform. As a result of the surge in ICE activity we have seen in the Twin Cities and across the nation, I have also become invested in migration reform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s your favorite memory from freshman year?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have so many amazing memories from my first year! Some of my top highlights include going to Gopher Women’s Basketball games with friends and walking down Summitt to the Mississippi River.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
