Uprising<\/a> and Reclaim the Block<\/a> are regularly updated sites with tangible steps on how to support the Black-led fight for police abolition in the Twin Cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donations to Rebuild Businesses and Communities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lake Street Council<\/span><\/a> is a long-term Macalester nonprofit partner raising funds to help rebuild Lake Street businesses, many of which are family-owned by immigrants and people of color. Matt Kazinka \u201811 is the Senior Strategic Initiatives Manager. Donations are accepted <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union Park District Council<\/span><\/a> is a longtime partner of Macalester and has been a site for Macalester\u2019s Off Campus Student Employment Program<\/a> and has partnered on academic projects. Union Park District Council and <\/span>Hamline-Midway Coalition<\/span><\/a>, which has also worked with Macalester classes, are raising funds to help restore St. Paul businesses on the University Avenue corridor via the Neighbors United Funding Collaborative.  Donations are accepted <\/span>here. <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Open Door Learning Center<\/span><\/a>, a Lives of Commitment<\/a> partner at  2700 E. Lake Street in Minneapolis works with immigrants and refugees providing free classes in ESL and work preparation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hallie Q. Brown Community Center<\/span><\/a> \u2013 An African American, nonprofit social service agency open to all, primarily serving the Rondo community of Saint Paul.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Migizi Communications<\/span><\/a> advances a message of success, well-being, and justice for Native Youth and the American Indian community.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NEON (Northside Economic Opportunity Network)<\/span><\/a> has compiled a helpful resource of organizations and initiatives assisting Northside businesses and community organizations.  See the resource <\/span>here.<\/span><\/a> Also <\/span>NEON\u2019s Twitter feed<\/span><\/a> has updates on events, articles and needs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

West Broadway Business and Area Coalition<\/span><\/a> is helping to coordinate a fund to assist and restore North Minneapolis businesses and community organizations.  You can donate through the Northside Funders Group <\/span>here.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WFPC Mutual Aid Project<\/span><\/a> is designed to share a collection of mutual aid funds and community resources<\/span><\/a>, as well as provide local mutual aid networks with tools to employ political education and activism. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partner Organizations Organizing for Racial Justice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Black Visions Collective (BLVC)<\/span><\/a> is developing Minnesota\u2019s emerging black leadership and building movements from the ground up. Site is accepting donations.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voices for Racial Justice:<\/span><\/a> Building power and strategies for racial justice using organizing, leadership training, community policy and research.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CTUL (Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha)<\/span><\/a>:  Long-term Mac partner org focused on workers\u2019 rights, based in South Minneapolis; <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Twitter<\/span><\/a> accounts link people to information, events, and actions. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CUAPB (Communities United Against Police Brutality)<\/span><\/a>: Mac partner org–involved in many public events and work on issues.   <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ISAIAH<\/span><\/a>: A multifaith community organizing group that has partnered with Macalester on community organizing development, trainings, and projects. Vivian Ihekoronye \u201813 and  Ollin Montes \u201817 are field organizers. Isaiah\u2019s <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Twitter<\/span><\/a> pages link people to information, events, and actions.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showing up for Racial Justice<\/span><\/a> is a network of groups working to undermine white supremacy and to work toward racial justice.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stand With Minneapolis: We Can\u2019t Breathe Fund<\/span><\/a>  Local, black-led, grassroots organization inspired by the life of the Prophet Muhammad, providing the North Minneapolis community with food and other essentials.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pimento Relief Fund<\/span><\/a> provides relief to black businesses without insurance after white supremacists set them on fire during the protests.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food Donations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Midway Food & Empowerment Project<\/span><\/a> is an initiative of the <\/span>Hamline-Midway Coalition<\/span><\/a> in St. Paul, lists current opportunities for donations and direct involvement.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bethlehem Lutheran,<\/span><\/a> a center of food distribution in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul (436 Roy St.) is accepting food and financial donations and volunteer help. <\/span>Facebook page<\/span><\/a> is updated with needs. Venmo: blcmiday  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ongoing, food drops offs on Lake Street at the Midtown Global Market (South Minneapolis) and on West Broadway Avenue and Emerson (North Minneapolis) 11 am – 4 p.m. daily. Division of Indian Work<\/span><\/a> is a longtime partner of Macalester that supports and strengthens urban American Indian communities. Cash donations preferred for the food shelf. If you want to drop off food or hygiene items, please call ahead of time.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little Earth Residents Association<\/span><\/a> is seeking food shelf donations. <\/span>You can make donations <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>.  Call ahead to confirm if you would like to drop off items. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organizations Focused on Police and Incarceration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Roots and Restore<\/span><\/a> is a St. Paul coalition dedicated to community-based solutions to public safety.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children of Incarcerated Caregivers:<\/span><\/a> Macalester professors and students have supported this organization, which addresses the effects of mass parental incarceration on children.  <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
