Professor Kiser is\u00a0an applied micro and health economist whose research is broadly motivated by her interest in access to quality healthcare for vulnerable populations in the United States. Professor Kiser’s research to date uses causal inference tools to study the impact of policies and shocks on\u00a0care utilization and health outcomes, particularly for mothers, infants, and women of reproductive age. Her past research has examined state level initiatives aimed at improving maternal health, contraceptive access programs, and midwifery licensing laws. She is currently studying how policies that change and access to treatment and healthcare providers affect healthcare utilization and subsequent\u00a0health outcomes.
