Workers’ Compensation

Macalester College provides workers’ compensation insurance to all faculty and staff, through Travelers Companies, Inc.  This insurance covers all reasonable medical expenses required to cure or relieve the effects of a work-related injury or illness. Workers’ compensation insurance also provides partial payment of an employee’s wages until the employee has reached Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI).

A work-related injury/incident, no matter how slight, must be reported immediately to your supervisor and Employment Services.

  • Reporting a work-related injury/incident

Work with your supervisor to complete an Injury/Incident Report Form. The completed form must be returned to Employment Services for processing within 24 hours of the injury/incident. The College reserves the right to request satisfactory medical evidence to support the report of injury. The completed form can be:

    • Faxed to 651-696-6612
    • Emailed to [email protected]
    • Delivered to our office located in the 77 Macalester building, Room 201.

If an injury or incident requires medical attention, the treating clinician must complete a  Report of Workability Form and return that to Human Resources before the employee may resume working.

If the incident or injury requires multiple clinic visits or ongoing care, Human Resources must receive a new Report of Workability Form after each appointment.
