She is also at work on a born-digital project on Afrofuturism.\u00a0Her second book,\u00a0<em>Each Hour Redeem: Time and Justice in African American Literature<\/em>, was published in March 2013 by the University of Minnesota Press. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.upress.umn.edu\/book-division\/books\/each-hour-redeem\">Each Hour Redeem<\/a>) Her first book,\u00a0<em>Unnatural Selections: Eugenics in American Modernism and the Harlem Renaissance<\/em>, was published in 2004 (<a href=\"https:\/\/uncpress.org\/9780807855317\/unnatural-selections\/\">Unnatural Selections<\/a>). Before she joined Macalester\u2019s faculty in 2003, she taught African American Literature at Bowie State University, one of the oldest historically black colleges in the nation.
