1.  Chuck Green Fellowship Informational Session – September 26

Apply for the Chuck Green Fellowship, an immersive sixth month civic engagement experience where students participate in a spring semester course followed by a paid 10 week summer project at a local organization of their choice. In this unique experience, different from a traditional internship, students work with their partner organization in a consultant-client relationship. The Political Science Department encourages sophomores and juniors of ALL majors to apply to be a part of the 2022-23 cohort. Learn more about the fellowship and hear from past fellows at our informational session on Monday, September 26, 2022, from 12-1 pm in Carnegie 06A. Lunch will be provided. Find more details about the fellowship.

2.  Study Away in Cape Town Informational Session – September 28

There will be an information session about the study away program Globalization, the Environment, and Society: South Africa on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 12-1 p.m. in Carnegie Hall 06A.  Food is provided.  If you have any questions, contact [email protected].

3.  Summer Research Showcase – September 30

Come see the extraordinary student research, internships, projects, and entrepreneurial endeavors that took place over the summer with faculty and staff mentors and community partners on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Kagin Commons, Alexander G. Hall Ballroom.

4.  Plant Futures Initiative

Message from Eric Sirvinskas, Community Relations Manager for Plant Futures Initiative (PFI), a program at UC Berkeley focused on plant-centric food systems and their impacts on human health, animal welfare, and planetary sustainability:

“Our aim is to connect students who are passionate about evoking positive change in the food system with industry leaders in the plant-based food sector – and the programming is expanding to campuses across the globe.

We are looking for student contacts who might be interested in starting a chapter at Macalester.  This could be as its own club or it could be incorporated into an existing club or organization.

Any interested student can schedule a quick 30 minute chat with me to talk more about how to create a chapter and what it means to be a part of the Plant Futures network. Students can view my availability and set up a meeting via calendly.”

5.  Internship Opportunity with the Council on Environmental Quality

The Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is looking for Spring 2023 Interns! CEQ interns provide critical research and writing assistance on a range of environmental policies and have the opportunity to perform diverse and substantive policy work. CEQ is looking for students who are highly motivated and able to handle face pace and quick turnaround assignments. CEQ offers part-time and full-time internships but requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week. This is an in-person paid internship and applicants must be U.S. citizens and current undergraduate or graduate students. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 28, 2022, by EOD Eastern Time.
