The Grounds department at Macalester serves to maintain the campus grounds as a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment. For example, the Grounds department is responsible for the care of all annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs on campus.
The Grounds department is responsible for contract garbage hauling and contract snow removal and personally takes care of the snow removal on the six miles of sidewalk on campus.
To assist with this work the Grounds department employs about 8 - 10 student workers during the summer and upwards of 15 during the academic year.
