Textbook Advance Program

Select students, including all students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, have the opportunity to participate in a program that is designed to facilitate the timely purchase of your textbooks. This optional program would allow you to use your Macalester ID to charge your books in the Macalester Bookstore. The amount of your charges would then appear on your Macalester student account on or around October 15 for fall and on or around March 15 for spring.

If, after your tuition and other required fees are paid to Macalester, you have a remaining credit balance on your account, you may use this credit balance to pay back your textbook advance. Otherwise, you are required to repay the textbook advance no later than mid-December for fall semester and early May for spring semester.

Students who are selected for this program will be sent specific information about how the program works prior to the start of the semester. They will also be sent a Textbook Advance Agreement, which needs to be signed and sent to the Financial Aid Office.
