Exception for College Access Scholarship Programs
In most cases, scholarships from college preparatory agencies that have longitudinal relationships with students from low to moderate income backgrounds will not affect pre-existing grants and scholarships.
- Scholarships exceeding the student’s original self-help (student loans and student employment) awards will replace Macalester grants directly (dollar for dollar).
- The total amount of grants and scholarships may not exceed the total cost of attendance.
- Eligibility for Federal Student Aid and other non-Macalester financial aid may be affected according to the applicable program rules.
This policy exception has been applied to scholarships from YES Prep (Houston, Texas), One Voice (Los Angeles, CA), the Schuler Scholars Program (Lake Forest, Illinois), Bright Prospect (Pomona, CA) and the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program. Additional exceptions will be made at the discretion of the Financial Aid Office.
