With a guarantee of six rounds of competition and an emphasis on judging by those with AMCA experience, we know this competition will be both a great competition and a chance to build for the future.

Eligibility: To be eligible, no competitor shall have had college-level moot court competition prior to the Fall 2026 season, interpreted as not having entered an AMCA regional competition on a prior topic.

Judging: Each two-person team entered must provide one judge per two-person team entered. The first judge supplied by a school must be a coach, lawyer / JD student, or graduated alumni of moot court. Additional judges may be alumni, law students, or a current advanced undergraduate student who has previously qualified to an AMCA PRONT. In all cases, we encourage schools to seek judges who will keep in mind both the educational and competitive aspects of a tournament aimed at younger competition. A team may split its judging obligation into two (one person serving as a Day 1 judge and another as a Day 2 judge), but the total number of judges provided by a school must be the same, in each round, as the number of teams entered by that school. The schedule has been designed with sufficient time after each round for oral and written feedback.

Entries: A school may register up to five teams. Entries cost $60 per two-person team. Entries close on Monday, November 30th at 5 p.m., or earlier in the unlikely event that the zoom capacity is reached (160 two-person teams). Names of competitors and judges may be edited by coaches up to the start of the tournament. No refunds can be provided for dropped entries. Registration and invoicing will occur through Speechwire; payment will then be through a credit card interface with Macalester College.

To initiate registration, you will need to go to Speechwire’s calendar of events: https://www.speechwire.com/p-calendar.php

Once registered, please make payment through this Macalester portal:

Tournament Schedule:

Friday, December 4 (Note: all times *Central* time zone)

3:30 – 4:30 p.m.: Judge and Competitor Check-in

4:40 p.m.: Judges’ Meeting

4:50 p.m.: Welcome to Competitors

5:00 p.m.: Round 1

6:30 p.m.: Round 2

8:00 p.m.: Round 3

The first three rounds will be pre-set by random draw.

Saturday, December 5

9:30 a.m.: Competitor and Judge Check-in

9:50 a.m.: Pairings Released

10:00 a.m.: Round 4

11:30 a.m.: Round 5 – Power matched High-High

1:00 p.m.: Break for Lunch

2:00 p.m.: Round 6 – Power matched High-High, with two semifinal rounds embedded

3:30 p.m.: Final Round

4:30 p.m. Awards Ceremonies

Notes:

Round 5 and 6 pairings will be based on the results of the preceding rounds and ballots.
