The Macalester College Law Warschaw Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition This Space Occupied By This Time: New Work by Travis Freeman. Travis Freeman engages questions that are often left to philosophers or mystics. What is the meaning of being? What is happening in this moment? What is it that occupies an empty space? What occurs when doing nothing? What is unseen that can be felt? Is everything connected, and if so by what? Rather than conduct his study in the laboratory or studio, Freeman brings his research into the gallery. Visitors become fellow researchers, coming to their own conclusions through experiencing the works/experiments. Freeman asks visitors to take a step toward the work and confront the ideas posited. Though more than a cerebral exercise, relatively little is visible within the gallery. What exists is to be questioned, to be experienced, and to be felt.
