Purpose and Priorities<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

To animate Macalester\u2019s commitment to critical global engagement*, Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship weaves together the work of the Dean\u2019s Office, Community Engagement Center, and Center for Study Away, with three interconnected priorities:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

*Critical global engagement is a theoretical and practical framework that acknowledges local\/global interconnections, invites reflection on power structures and positionalities, and engages across intersectional differences to impact social change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

**Embodied ways of knowing is a growing body of transdisciplinary knowledge that challenges the body\/mind binaries and emphasizes learning rooted in community-based, lived experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

KAIGC aspires to be a collaborative space where the Macalester community reimagines and works towards a world where all beings relate to each other in ways that are just, equitable, and compassionate.

Approach<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To move towards such a vision, we bridge campus and global\/local communities, braid scholarship and social change, weave curriculum and co-curriculum. We recognize historical and ongoing structural inequalities and power asymmetries as we co-create spaces of mutuality, agency, and transformation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
