Sometimes you may need to access off-campus health resources, even when the Hamre Center is open. Below is a list of some of the clinics most often used by students for these purposes. To locate off-campus mental health counselors, please use MiResource to find a local therapist that’s right for you.

For referrals to medical specialty clinics, if you are on outside insurance, start by calling your insurer to see who in this area is covered. If you are on the United Healthcare Student Resource insurance, set up a meeting with Torri Lattimore.
Primary care care clinics are similar to the Hamre Center in scope of services they provide, but may work better with your outside insurance, or have labs, procedures, or imaging (such as X-ray) available that Hamre Center does not. Here are some links to local clinics that many Mac students have found helpful.

We’re excited to partner with MiResource to create a tool to help Macalester students easily and confidentially find the right off campus provider. You can search by your specific care needs, insurance/payment options, and geography.
Ready to get started? Simply answer a few prompts to create your personalized search and then create an account to save and access your results. When you get to the map, you can type Macalester College into the location box to find providers in our area, that we work with more regularly. In each provider profile, if the provider was invited and logged in through Macalester it will show their affiliation with us at the bottom of their profile.
The clinical providers participating in this referral database supply their own information about their services. The Hamre Center cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information provided. The Hamre Center is unable to endorse any particular clinical provider that is listed. It is important to verify fees and that the selected provider is in-network with your insurance prior to your appointment.
