Group Description
Through storytelling will we confront and shift depression’s limited perspectives.  During this 6-week group, you will explore how depression impacts your life and worldview, practice finding new ways to meet old challenges, cultivate hope in the present, and set goals for the future.  Facilitated by Dana Suttles and Kate Larson.

Because We Are Not Alone

Group Description
This is a support group for Macalester students of any gender who have experienced sexual assault (sexual abuse, rape, and other forms of non-consensual contact). This group provides support to facilitate healing and coping. Facilitated by Liz Schneider-Bateman and Jan Beebe.

Coping With Anxiety: Essential Anxiety Management Skills

Group Description
A 4-session skill-building group designed to help students reduce their anxiety. Participants will better understand anxiety and practice anxiety management tools like breathing and meditation, cognitive and emotional self-awareness, and lifestyle choices. Led by Mia Nosanow and Xiang Zhou.

Grief & Loss Support

Group Description
This group is for students grieving the loss of a loved one, sibling, parent, relative or close friend. Participants can process and heal in an atmosphere of understanding, community, and mutual support. Facilitated by Don DeBoer and Mary Emanuelson.

Cultivating Calm: Koru Mindfulness and Meditation

Group Description
A 4-session evidence-based group designed specifically for college students.  Learn mindfulness and meditation that helps students stay calmer under stress, become more mindful, gain better sleep and increase self-compassion.  Led by Mia Nosanow.

Making Friends With Yourself: Mindful Self-Compassion

Group Description
Learn how to approach stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic self-criticism in a new way. In this 6-week group, you’ll learn and practice core concepts of self-compassion, a powerful research-based tool to help cope with distress and get more from life. Facilitated by Liz Schneider-Bateman.

Group Description
Whether it is an intimate partner relationship, friendship, parent/guardian-child or roommate, relationships can be both helpful and hurtful.  In the 4-session group, we will explore how to build healthy relationships for yourself and the importance of being in relationship for our health and wellness.  All relationships welcome.  Facilitated by Julia Hutchinson.
