This is a support group for Macalester students of any gender who have experienced sexual assault (sexual abuse, rape, and other forms of non-consensual contact). This group provides support to facilitate healing and coping.

Coping With Anxiety: Essential Anxiety Management Skills

Group Description

 A 4-session skill-building group designed to help students reduce their anxiety. Participants will better understand anxiety and practice anxiety management tools like breathing and meditation, cognitive and emotional self-awareness, and lifestyle choices. Led by Mia Nosanow and Xiang Zhou.

Grief & Loss Support

Group Description

This group is for students grieving the loss of a loved one, sibling, parent, relative or close friend. Participants can process and heal in an atmosphere of understanding, community, and mutual support. Facilitated by Don DeBoer and Mary Emanuelson.

Koru

Group Description

A 4-session mindfulness and meditation group to help decrease stress and increase satisfaction in daily life. Koru is the Maori word for unfurling fern frond, a balance between perpetual growth and stability, a natural representation for mindfulness and meditation skills.

Making Friends With Yourself: Mindful Self-Compassion

Group Description

Learn how to approach stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic self-criticism in a new way. In this 6-week group you’ll learn and practice core concepts of self-compassion, a powerful research-based tool to help cope with distress and get more from life.
