The Macalester Health & Wellness Center is committed to advancing the health professions.  One way this is accomplished is by providing training opportunities such as residencies, graduate practicums, internships, assistantships. Questions about clinical training should be directed to the staff person who is listed.

Counseling:  Every year up to two graduate practicum students are selected for the entire academic year. Ted Rueff ( leads the selection process and supervision is shared by Ted and Don DeBoer. Interested candidates should review the information page.

Physicians – Family practice residents and adolescent medicine fellows with established institutions. Open to PA inquiries. Supervision is provided by Stephanie Walters, MD. (
Medical assistant students – Students from an area program are supervised by Torri Lattimore (
Nurse Practitioners – Ellen Giere ( provides supervision for NP candidates.
