  • Community Recognition Awards Lunch: We have decided to cancel the Community Recognition Awards luncheon and dinner held at the President’s home. Planning is underway to honor and recognize our extraordinary community members and more information on that will be shared as updates are available. (Posted: 3/19/20)
  • In-Person Volunteer-Driven Alumni Events:  Given current MDH and CDC guidance surrounding COVID-19, all in-person volunteer-driven alumni events (Regional Chapters and yMac) have been canceled through May 31.  We are currently exploring other ways our alumni community can engage and support each other safely at this time.   • Admissions Deposit Deadline Extended: Recognizing that some admitted students may need more time this spring to decide where they will attend college, we have extended the deposit deadline from May 1 to June 1. (Posted: 3/17/20)
  • Admissions Campus Visits March 18 – May 4: All campus visits for Admissions are cancelled from Wednesday, March 18 – Monday, May 4. Cancelled programs include all individual visits Monday-Friday, Saturday morning visits, and the two Admitted Student Spring Sampler programs that were scheduled to begin on April 9 and April 16.   • In-Person Commencement: We have made the difficult decision to cancel our traditional, in-person Commencement. We are exploring other ways to recognize and celebrate our graduating seniors and will share an update soon. (Posted: 3/16/20)
  • yMac Alumni Trivia: Given the current recommendations surrounding Coronavirus/COVID-19, we have re-evaluated this event and do not wish to put anyone at risk. We know many people were looking forward to this annual event and hope to hold it later this year. (Posted: 3/14/20)
  • Spring Sports: With The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) canceling its spring sports season, Macalester Athletics has decided to cancel all athletic-related activities for the spring season. (Posted: 3/13/20)
  • Big Questions London: Given the unfortunate circumstances surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus), we feel it would be irresponsible to in any way endanger or unintentionally compromise the well-being of our friends in London. (Posted: 3/13/20)
  • Outing Club: Outing Club has cancelled all three of their spring break backpacking trips. (Posted: 3/13/20)
  • Athletics Spring Break Trips: In response to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus, and in the best interest of our student-athletes, Macalester College Athletics has canceled plans for seven programs to travel over spring break.   • LibTech 2020: Given the many very reasonable concerns individuals and institutions are having about the COVID-19 virus, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone that we do not hold the LibTech conference on March 18-19. (Posted: 3/11/2020)
  • Model UN Trip to NYC: Because of the large size of the conference, the number of confirmed cases, and because the governor has declared a state of emergency, we are cancelling our team’s participation in the March 29-April 2 Model UN Conference. (Posted: 3/10/2020)

  • Choir Tour of San Francisco Bay Area: Because one of the three venues and several host families have pulled out of the tour, and because the Governor of California has declared a state of emergency, we have cancelled the choir tour to the Bay Area. (Posted 3/6/20)
