Welcome New Students

We are pleased that you are coming to Macalester!  This is a community that values holistic health and wellness.  The Health & Wellness Center (HWC) is here to assist you in realizing your personal health and to contribute to the well-being of the community. One way this is done is to require some information from you, which is described below. Thank you in advance for completing these requirements in a timely manner and be sure to contact us if you have any questions.

Health Insurance - Waive out or enroll!

All Macalester students are required to have health insurance.  Every year you will need to go online and either waive out of the policy or enroll.  The website to do this should be "live" around July 5, 2017.   The deadline for doing this is August 25, 2017.  Here is the website to go to after July 5:
www.gallagher/student.com/macalester .  NOTE: Prior to July 5th it will take you to last year's information.  The policy is essentially the same but you will NOT be able to waive out or enroll.

2017 Health Forms for New Students

Using your Macalester log-in and password you'll be able to access the Macalester Patient Portal to complete the following requirements:

Required Immunizations (data to be self entered into Patient Portal)

  • Tdap (Tetanus) Booster - received within the last 10 years
  • 2 MMR's (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - first dose received after 1st birthday
  • Meningitis Immunization - received after the age of 16

Required Forms (found in the Patient Portal)

  • TB Screen Questionnaire - (& completed TB Assessment, if needed)
  • Privacy Notice Form - signed and uploaded into the patient portal
  • Under 18 Form (if student will be under the age of 18 upon arriving to campus)
  • Immunization Records -upload a copy of all immunizations into the portal for the HWC to verify

Deadline: June 25th, 2017

Documentation of the above requirements must be completed and submitted to the HWC by June 25th, 2017. Contact us at or 651-696-6275 if you are unable to meet this deadline or need assistance. We have limited staffing over the summer but we will return your call or email as soon as possible.

**PLEASE NOTE:  Required HWC forms are not the same as the Athletic Department forms**
