{"id":387,"date":"2017-09-27T20:49:03","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T20:49:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/160-history\/facultystaff\/lindasturtz\/"},"modified":"2024-02-06T17:41:59","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T17:41:59","slug":"lindasturtz","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/history\/facultystaff\/lindasturtz\/","title":{"rendered":"Linda Sturtz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Linda Sturtz\u2019s work examines the history of early North America and the British Caribbean within an Atlantic world context.\u00a0\u00a0She has taught courses on the early modern Atlantic world, music as history and public history.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to coming to Macalester, she taught at Beloit College and in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Newberry Library Program.\u00a0\u00a0She once worked as a Park Ranger at Colonial National Historical Park.\u00a0 Her\u00a0first\u00a0book,\u00a0<em>Within\u00a0Her\u00a0Power:\u00a0Propertied\u00a0Women\u00a0in\u00a0Colonial\u00a0Virginia <\/em>(Routledge, 2002) took a longue-dur\u00e9e approach to understanding the ways that law and transatlantic trade shaped the opportunities of women.
