Open Access @ Mac

November 3 2016

Staff at the DeWitt Wallace Library are taking action to change the landscape of the book publishing world. By supporting efforts such as the Lever Press, Knowledge Unlatched, Open Textbook Network, and Open Book Publisher, we are helping to flip the book publishing model, making book content openly accessible at no cost to authors and readers.

Tools such as DigitalCommons and SelectedWorks, are broadening readership of honors projects, faculty articles, data sets and books to a global audience. Recently, Prof. John Kim’s Rupture of the Virtual became the second open access monograph in Macalester’s Institutional Repository. The repository’s first monograph, Captive Audiences/Captive Performers by Sears Eldredge, was featured in “100 Stories:The Impact of Open Access" in celebration of Open Access Week.

All of these efforts are part of our ongoing support of faculty and student scholarship on campus. Please feel free to contact us about Open Access or getting your scholarship in DigitalCommons or SelectedWorks.
