Digital Commons hits 2 million downloads

We are excited to announce that Digital Commons @ Macalester has passed the 2 million download mark.
Digital Commons @ Macalester is the college’s institutional repository for scholarly and creative works in an open-access environment. Macalester began publishing and archiving student Honors projects in the Digital Commons @ Macalester in 2005 and has added other types of content along the way.
With 2 million downloads, what types of content does the Digital Commons @ Macalester contains? They include:
- Faculty articles
- Peer-reviewed student journals
- Conference presentations and materials like Macalester hosted LibTech
- Faculty Books like John Kim’s Rupture of the Virtual
- Student Honors projects
- Archive and Special Collection materials
- Journals like Himalaya
The DeWitt Wallace Library staff oversees the management and development of the Digital Commons @ Macalester. We believe the service contributes to making the scholarship produced by our faculty, students, and staff more accessible and thus contributes to worldwide scholarship. In addition to preserving the intellectual output of our community, we increase the visibility and demonstrate the quality and depth of scholarship that takes place at Macalester.
