Due to an upcoming summer library building renovation, we will be unable to offer the SPARCS@Mac Technology Day Camp in 2017. Please check back for news about the camp for 2018. If you have any questions please contact us.
Technology Day Camp
Diversity focused, girl-centered, open to all high school age students.
SPARCS@Mac is a diversity focused, girl-centered, camp providing technology development opportunities for all high school students in Minnesota. Our collaborative vision is a 5-day, affordable, high-quality, hands-on technology education experience. Encouraging and celebrating diversity and girls in tech is a strong focus of this program.
We invite students to come learn about a wide variety of technologies while engaging with college faculty, students and staff, IT employers and fascinating professionals. Enjoy beautiful Macalester College in St. Paul where summer learning and fun intersect! Beginners and experienced techies are welcome.
Individuals from historically underrepresented populations, girls and gender non-conforming students, students of color, and would-be first generation college students are especially encouraged to apply. Participants must be Minnesota residents entering grades 9-12 in the fall following the camp. Admission is open to all students, regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, or economic status. In order to offer the camp to as many people as possible, we will not be accepting returning students. Registration is limited to 30.
- Learn a variety of technologies and their applications.
- Build skills and confidence through experimentation, creativity, and problem solving.
- Increase awareness and understanding of technology career opportunities.
- Work alongside technology professionals, college faculty, staff and students.
- Understand the importance of diversity in the technology workforce.
- Explore higher education and college opportunities.
- Have fun!
Our goal is to reduce barriers to this camp. The all-inclusive cost for the 5-day camp is $150. Students who receive free or reduced lunch, who cannot pay this amount, will be asked to choose a financially comfortable camp fee during the registration process. If you have any questions, please contact us for assistance.
