You are Invited: Community Engagement Opportunities

We invite you to join us in helping shape the Macalester DeWitt Wallace Library of the future. Together we will envision how the library might be designed to meet the needs of our students well into the future. In early fall, we hosted two listening sessions to gather ideas, hopes, and dreams for a renovated library. Much has changed in the 30 years since the library was built. Representatives from the Library, ITS, Facilities, and our architect, HGA hosted the sessions. An opportunity to share ideas with us via a survey ran for two weeks starting on September 23rd.

Many thanks to all who responded to  the Library Master Space Planning Survey or attended the in person events! The valuable information that you have provided helps us plan for a future library for everyone. Please contact a member of the Library Master Space Planning Group with questions.

This survey was developed for the Macalester Community as a means to provide anonymous input and feedback, as we develop a master plan for future library spaces. This survey intentionally focused on how people currently use the library and how they hope to in the future. Individuals on the Library Master Space Plan Committee, including our architect from HGA, will see the responses in order to inform our work in creating a final space plan recommendation. We will also share aggregate results and select non-identifying comments with the Macalester community in order to give an indication of the feedback received. We are grateful for your input.

Two Macalester students prize winners were chosen at random for completing the survey. Smith Mayse won Grandview movie tickets and Nick Velikonja won the grand prize of a pizza party and Grandview movie tickets.
