Her primary expertise lies in the acoustic and articulatory properties of voice quality (phonation), particularly how it is used contrastively in the world\u2019s languages to distinguish meaning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Esposito\u2019s research spans several language families, including Hmong-Mien, Tibeto-Burman, and Oto-Manguean. Her research often investigates how non-modal phonation types, such as breathy or creaky voice, interact with other phonetic features like pitch and vowel quality. Her scholarship has appeared in leading journals such as the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Journal of Phonetics<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Journal of the International Phonetic Association<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Language<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Beyond her research, Dr. Esposito is a dedicated educator and advocate for undergraduate research.
