Media and Cultural Studies manages the Interdisciplinary Media Lab in Humanities 412, a versatile and forward-looking digital media production and experimentation lab for use across a range of disciplines at Macalester. Once a television studio, the Media and Cultural Studies department has renovated the space to support multimedia production and exhibition across the campus. The lab provides basic capabilities for video and audio production and instruction, and is flexible enough to facilitate emerging applications such as virtual reality and multimedia performance and exhibition. With multi-wall projection and flexible seating, the IML is also ideal for screenings, lectures, art installations, and panels or colloquia.

The IML is managed by the Media and Cultural Studies department, but is available for reservations by faculty, staff, student groups, and students across campus. This semester, the IML is available for open lab hours on Fridays from 1-5 pm. If you are interested in reserving the space for production outside of the open lab hours, or for a screening, class, or event, please fill out this google form. To see if the IML is available in a particular timeslot, please look at this google calendar:
