The Macalester Asian Music Ensemble performs chamber genres and repertoires from across Asia. Students may choose or be advised to specialize in one or more of the music traditions represented by the department\u2019s instrument collections and faculty expertise. These include, but are not limited to, Javanese gamelan, East and Southeast Asian chamber instrumental music, as well as Indian, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian traditions. The ensemble is open to all Macalester students by audition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contact Director Chuen-Fung Wong, Associate Professor of Music, at wong@macalester.edu<\/a> for more information and to schedule an audition. Prior experience in music performance is welcome but not always required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Registration for ensembles is taken care of by the directors of the ensembles during the first week of classes. Be aware there is some lag time between when students turn in registration information to the director and when the class appears on records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
