St. Paul, Minn. – A concert featuring noted classical composer, jazz pianist, and Macalester Professor Randall Bauer will be performed at Macalester College on Sunday, November 21, at 3 p.m. in the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center Concert Hall.

Bauer, who joined the Macalester College faculty in 2009, teaches composition, music theory, jazz, and improvisation. His compositions have received several national awards and have been premiered here and abroad by such groups as the Brentano String Quartet, eighth blackbird, Nash Ensemble of London, Synergy Vocals, Network for New Music, among others. He has been active as a jazz pianist for many years.

The program will feature all original music composed by Bauer, including two world premieres and selections from a forthcoming jazz album. Performers will include Bauer, pianist Claudia Chen (Macalester College), cellist Arek Tesarczyk (Minnesota Orchestra), duo-pianists Owen Lovell (UW-Eau Claire) and Esther Wang (Gustavus Adolphus College), and flutist Carol Hester, cellist Eric Kutz, and pianist Miko Kominami (all from Luther College).
