President Rosenberg with the contest winners at the Alumni House

Annual Fund donors win “An Evening with the President”

Three Summit Society members and their guests had an especially festive December after their names were randomly drawn to be part of the Annual Fund event “An Evening with the President.” On Dec. 16, Darlene Uhlendorf Lee ’63 and David Lee (Wausau, Wis.), David List ’74 and Erica Tesdell ’76 (St. Paul) and David ’02 and Nell Saunders-Scott ’04 (La Crosse, Wis.) unpacked their bags in Macalester’s newly renovated Alumni House and enjoyed a private dinner with President Brian Rosenberg and Dr. Carol Rosenberg before the group headed to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis to take in “A Christmas Carol,” a longstanding Twin Cities holiday tradition.

Everyone who gave to the Annual Fund between June 1 and November 11, 2011, was entered into the drawing.

“I was flabbergasted that we won,” Tesdell says. “We are not big donors, but we give regularly, and it all adds up.

For Darlene Lee, “An Evening with the President” was a chance to spend time back at Mac after years away. “Winning was not only a great surprise, but a delightful way to get me back there to see all of the changes I know have taken place over the years,” she says. “I am proud to be a Mac grad and to help support the school that gave me so much.”
