This Year’s Seniors:

In the fall of 2008, Macalester welcomed 504 students in the Class of 2012. Sixty-six percent of those students were in the top 10 percent of their graduating class (96 percent were in the top quarter) and many were National Merit Scholars. They represented 45 states–included among the top five states were California and New York.

Award Winners

This class will no doubt go on to make changes in the world. So far, four students from the class will spend next year as Fulbright scholars. Senior sociology majors Jeremy Carp and Diego Melo were selected as the first place and second place winners, respectively, for the 2012 Alpha Kappa Delta Undergraduate Paper Competition. Charlotte Fagan received both a Peace Prize Award and a Watson Fellowship. Derek Ochi was named one of 100 Amgen Fellows selected from incoming Teach For America corps members with undergraduate degrees in math and science.

Where are they headed?
