Pianist Anton Kuerti Plays Beethoven in Macalester’s new Mairs Concert Hall

St. Paul, Minn. – The Macalester Music Department and the Pulliam Endowment present pianist Anton Kuerti performing an all-Beethoven concert, 3 p.m., Sun., Oct. 14, in Mairs Concert Hall, Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, 1600 Grand Ave, St. Paul.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Kuerti, born in Vienna, is a world-renowned pianist known for the clarity of his musical vision and his masterful technique.  His distinguished performing career has taken him to nearly 40 countries, including Japan, Russia, and most of Europe. He is especially famous for his interpretation of the works of Beethoven.

The Boston Globe said of his musicianship, “One of the best interpreters of Beethoven around.” The Toronto Globe and Mail wrote, “Propulsive, fiery, and glinting with a natural, authoritative virtuosity.”  And CD Review of London said, “One of the truly great pianists of the century.”

Kuerti’s program includes 6 Bagatelles, Op. 126, Sonata No. 32 in C Minor, Op. 111, Sonata No. 12 in A Flat Major, Op. 26 and Sonata No.  6 in F Major, Op. 10, No.  2.
