Armed and not Dangerous: Jesus in Jerusalem, Arnold Lowe Lectureship with Yale’s Dale B. Martin

Dale B. Martin is the Woolsey Professor of Religious Studies at Yale University. Martin specializes in New Testament and Christian Origins, including attention to social and cultural history of the Greco-Roman world. His books include: Slavery as Salvation: The Metaphor of Slavery in Pauline Christianity; The Corinthian Body; Inventing Superstition from the Hippocratics to the Christians; Sex and the Single Savior: Gender and Sexuality in Biblical Interpretation; Pedagogy of the Bible: an Analysis and Proposal; and most recently, Introduction to New Testament History and Literature, published in March 2012 as one of the first of the “Yale Open Courses” book series.

The Arnold Lowe Lectureship at Macalester College was established in 1984 in honor of Arnold H. Lowe (1889-1977), pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis from 1941 to 1965, and former President of the Macalester Board of Trustees.
