St. Paul, Minn. – Osmo Vänskä, music director of the Minnesota Orchestra, puts down the baton and picks up his clarinet to join Macalester faculty and friends in an intimate evening of chamber music for clarinet and strings. The program will feature the Quintet in B minor by Johannes Brahms, the world premiere of a new work for clarinet quintet by Macalester Music Prof. Randall Bauer and Irwin Schulhoff’s Duo for violin and cello.

Other featured musicians include violinist Erin Keefe, concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra, cellist Wilhelmina Smith, and two Macalester string faculty, violinist James Garlick and violist Rebecca Albers.

The concert is Thursday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m., in Macalester’s Mairs Concert Hall in the Janet Wallace Fine Arts Center, 130 Macalester Street, Saint Paul, Minn.  Admission is free but tickets are required and can be reserved here:  Doors open at 7 p.m.  For more information, contact or 651-696-6540.
