The Department of Multicultural Life held the 21st annual Cultural House poetry slam in early November. The slam celebrates the role and significance of oral tradition in communities of color and as an expression of political action. This year also featured poets Keno Evol and Brad Keller.

The winners of the slam were Becky Githinji ’17 (first place), Andrea Grimaldi ’16 (second place), and Maddie Schumacher ’19 (third place). Congratulations also to all of the contestants, including Abbie Cotter ’18, Samia Habli ’16, Bo-Sung Kim ’16, and Anja Swoap ’19, whose stories and courage made this year’s slam a special one.
