St. Paul, Minn. – Katie Ladas, former Director of Volunteerism at the Greater Twin Cities United Way, has been named Executive Director of Alumni Engagement at Macalester College.  She began her new position on January 3, 2017.

Since 2008, Ladas has held several positions at the Greater Twin Cities United Way. As Director of Volunteerism, she was responsible for building out the volunteer arm of United Way by leading the strategic rebranding of its volunteer services, nearly doubling the annual volunteer count in 2015 from 60,000 to 109,000. She created and built community-wide volunteer events, increased volunteer database by 900%, and piloted targeted outreach strategies for colleges, retirees and younger professionals.

“Katie brings a fresh outlook to her new position in alumni engagement, having worked with thousands of volunteers in her many capacities at United Way,” said Andrew Brown, Vice President for Advancement. “We are excited to have her join us, as we’re putting an increased focus on alumni volunteerism at the college.”

Her other positions at United Way included Director of Custom Campaigns and Director of Donor Markets.

In her new position as Executive Director of Alumni Engagement, Ladas will oversee programming and work with colleagues in the Macalester community to increase alumni involvement with the college. She will focus on volunteerism as a means of producing strong and productive relationships both regionally and locally.

“I was attracted to Macalester not only because of how I could utilize my experience in volunteer management,” said Ladas, “but also because of how closely my personal values align with Macalester’s mission.”

In addition to the United Way, Ladas has also worked in communications and consulting roles with Inetium, Compelling Communications, Courage Center, AccessAbility and the United States Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic.
