Described by the New York Times as “an artist of intense concentration and conviction,” Jeffrey Jacob received his education from the Juilliard School and the Peabody Conservatory. Since his debut with the London Philharmonic in Royal Festival Hall, he has appeared as piano soloist with over 25 orchestras internationally and is a noted proponent of contemporary music.
This program explores very recent, progressive works for the piano as well as Bela Bartok’s seminal ‘Out of Doors Suite,’ two of Samuel Barber’s most important works, and George Crumb’s gigantic, avant-garde, and theatrical Makrokosmos, Vol. II, his largest and most ambitious work for solo piano. Jacob will also perform “Miniatures,” by Music Department Associate Professor Victoria Malawey.
