St. Paul, Minn. – The Macalester Music Department presents its second faculty chamber music series featuring masterworks for strings by Mozart, Dvorak and Brahms at 7 pm, Sunday, January 21, at Mairs Concert Hall, 130 Macalester St., St. Paul, Minn.
The program highlights Brahms’ mighty Viola Quintet in G major, Op 111 featuring principal violists from both the Minnesota Orchestra and The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Macalester string faculty member Rebecca Albers and guest musician Maiya Papach, respectively. Also on the program is Mozart’s sublime Duo in G for Violin and Viola as well as Dvorak’s charming and energetic Terzetto for two violins and viola.
String faculty members James Garlick and Rebecca Albers will be joined by guest musicians Susie Park, first associate concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra, Maiya Papach, principal viola of The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Richard Belcher, cellist of the acclaimed Enso String Quartet.
