Students, faculty, and staff gathered–both in person and online–on the First Thursday of the fall semester to celebrate the beginning of the academic year. This year’s featured speaker was our new Provost, Lisa Anderson-Levy. Here is the poem she referenced in her remarks, If The Trees Can Keep Dancing, So Can I from NPR’s poet-in-residence Kwame Alexander. In addition, we heard from President Rivera, MCSG President Shreya Nagdev, Macalester Board Chair Carrie Norbin Killoran ’94, The Rev. Kelly Stone, Mac of All Trades a capella group, and St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter.
