Founders Day 2012
Founders Day is an annual community-wide celebration of Macalester’s history held on the anniversary of our founding.
FaceAIDS Fashion Show
FaceAIDS hosted their second annual benefit fashion show and silent auction for the Malaysia PT Foundation. This is an organization that works with marginalized groups in Malaysia to advocate HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and support systems. Students modeled clothing donated from various companies and boutiques, and the clothing (among other gift baskets) was available for purchase during a silent auction.
Ice Skating at the Depot
Macalester's Program Board brought students to the Depot in downtown Minnepolis, about a 10-minute drive from campus, for free ice skating one weekend in February.
The Roommate Games
Res Life and Mac at Nite organized the Roommate Games at Macalester. The event, modeled after the Newlyweds game, tested students on how well they knew their roommates.
Students were invited for a night of curling at Biff Adams Arena in St. Paul. Brooms, ice, and instruction was provided.
Donovan Kavish '13 finds at Macalester friends from all over the world. "No one has had the same experiences in life and everyone has something to offer to the conversation. It has allowed me to learn more than I ever could have dreamed of.”
Brian Rosenberg, president of Macalester and Charles Dickens scholar, plays the part of Scrooge in this YouTube video and learns some valuable lessons from some very notable ghosts.
Finding It All at Mac
Mac students are driven without being overly competitive, a rare quality to find and one I value immensely, writes Gerbrand Hoogvliet ’11.
Kick Out AIDS
Kick Out AIDS was a student-sponsored, benefit kickball tournament for Peace House Africa, a Minnesota-based organization that works to create a sustainable future for AIDS orphans and their communities.
MIO Cultural Show
