Women’s River Trip 2011
Photo gallery. Ten women from the Macalester alumni community met in front of Weyerhaeuser at the end of July, threw their sleeping bags into cars and ventured to northern Wisconsin for four days of canoeing and camping along the scenic Namekagon River. Together, they revived a tradition from the 1940s, the annual Macalester Women's River Trip.
Science Summer Barbeques
Weekly barbeques are held during the summer months for student researchers and the professors who work with them.
Teaching with Skype
In a course on conflict in the Middle East, students used Skype technology to discuss the political situation with people living it every day.
Frog and Flower Count
Each year hundreds of laypeople and scientists use sonar detectors, bug lights, live traps, and laptops to count and chronicle an area’s flora and fauna. This year the event—dubbed Minnesota BioBlitz—was held at Macalester’s Katharine Ordway Natural History Study Area in Inver Grove Heights.
Mac at Twin Cities Pride

Senior Art Exhibit 2011
The Macalester College Art Gallery is pleased to announce the annual senior art major group exhibition. The graduating art majors present their thesis work to the public.

Royal Wedding Telecast
About 65 people gathered in the John B. Davis Lecture Hall for the 5 a.m. telecast of the wedding of Prince William of Wales to Miss Catherine Middleton. Scones, tea and coffee were available.
Model UN Team Successful
Macalester's Model United Nations team recently returned from the week long National Model UN conference in New York City. The delegation of 12 Mac students represented Mongolia and brought home a Distinguished Delegation award; the second highest given at the conference. Congratulations, MacMUN!
Sandwiches and Scholarship
The IGCSC hosts Sandwiches and Scholarship luncheons on the second Thursday of each month to highlight student scholarship across campus.
Spring has arrived on campus. Macalester students took the opportunity to play and study outside.
Mac Idol 2011
Students performed in their own version of "American Idol." Judges were President Brian Rosenberg, VP for Student Affairs Laurie Hamre and Professor James Laine.
