Café Mac Tour: Navigating Food Allergies and Celiac DiseaseRuth Stricker Dayton Campus Center, Café Mac
Brought to you by Disability Services and Café Mac leadership. Learn about inclusive food accommodation practices available to students dining on campus. This orientation event is for students and parents/guests who manage food allergies, celiac disease and medical diets. The event includes a tour of Café Mac that highlights need-to-know information: where to find ingredient labels at each food station, sourcing gluten free items, and a discussion of food safety practices. A question and answer session with General Manager Amy Tomes and Executive Chef Chad Plotnik will be part of the tour. Shayne Fettig-Hughes from Disability Services will be available to talk with students and families individually after the event.

Surviving Minnesota Winters: Although the cold months in Minnesota can be intimidating, the indoor and outdoor winter activities offered by Mac and in the Twin Cities ensure that they can also be fun. We will teach you how to survive the cold with tips on dressing for winter and dealing with Minnesota’s unpredictable weather.

This workshop will help you to take advantage of the Metro Transit Universal Pass and Macalester bicycle resources. Learn about the major transit routes and bicycle infrastructure close to campus. Ask questions about neighborhoods and start to feel comfortable getting around the Twin Cities.
Meet outside the Campus CenterBubbles and Ballads with Career Exploration: Career Exploration’s light and airy getaway will help pop the stress away! Kick back and relax with CE to blow some bubbles, sip bubbly water, and listen to chill music. Idea Lab, DeWitt Wallace LibraryOrientation Community Sing: New to singing? Somebody told you you can’t sing? This is also for you!!! Join Isabel Nelson (DML) and Emma Kippley-Ogman (CRSL) for a community sing. We’ll teach and sing together short songs and rounds that ground us and let us feel the joyful energy of joining our voices together. Is there a song you want to share/lead? Bring it! Isabel and Emma have been singing together in non-judgmental community spaces here in Minnesota since we were kids. Faculty, staff, students, all are welcome.
