Residential Life at Macalester College utilizes a student-focused, learning-centered approach to foster resident development, authentic relationships, and inclusive living-communities. We do this through our implementation of the Community Learning Model, community standards, housing services, and talented student staff. residential-life@macalester.edu Macalester College’s Student Employment Program exists to provide employment opportunities that offer students both financial assistance and professional development. The Program affords students the opportunity to build skills for career readiness while focusing on coursework in addition to providing a talented workforce for the College. Visit the Student Employment webpage studentemployment@macalester.edu The Macalester Payroll Department is responsible for accurately and timely processing pay for all faculty, staff, and student employees while adhering to Macalester guidelines as well as federal and state regulations. We are a service-oriented department committed to assisting our students and employees. Main Responsibilities: Federal and State W-4’s, Direct Deposit, Timeclock questions, Paychecks Tanya Weeber, Payroll Specialist, 651-696-6545 or Alicia Walk, Payroll & Tax Manager, 651-696-6436 or email us at payroll@macalester.edu The Sustainability Office was established at Macalester in 2009. The office is charged with advancing sustainability at the college. While the office has had many successes in improving the environmental footprint of the college, its influence has been narrow and lacked a larger social justice context. Moving forward, we are creating a mission that centralizes environmental justice at its core. Environmental justice means that since historically marginalized groups bear a greater burden of any environmental issue, our work is incomplete without a genuine commitment to social justice in everything we do. We collaborate with others offices and departments on campus to implement programs, such as Dirty Training, Sustain-a-cup, bike sharing, and other, which offer the community opportunities to live with a lower resources footprint. We hope to shift the emphasis of sustainability away specific targets to hit and towards a justice-oriented goal based on caring about all communities— especially BIPOC communities. sustainability@macalester.edu MAX is the central tutoring center on campus, working with students in writing, math, science, economics, and study skills. We also coordinate the Supplemental Instruction program and ADA testing. Our motto: Helping underprepared students prepare, prepared students advance, and advanced students excel. Vist The MAX Center website to explore a range of support options for students Dave Ehren (Director): ehren@macalester.edu The Highlander is the Macalester Bookstore.
