Recent guest speakers include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tonderai Chikuhwa<\/strong>, Chief of Staff for the Office of the UN Under-Secretary General and Special Representative for Sexual Violence in Conflict;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hwa Jeong Kim<\/strong>, Saint Paul City Council Representative;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Valerie Plame<\/strong>, Former CIA Agent and Nuclear Expert&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elizabeth Shackelford<\/strong>, Senior Fellow at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pi Sigma Alpha also hosts career panels, election-related events, field trips, and a full-day annual conference focused on student research.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2024-25 PI SIGMA ALPHA LEADERSHIP TEAM<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Olivia Johnson (\u201825)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Matthew Kiernan (\u201825)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Audrey Lester (\u201826)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Paul Nguyen (\u201826)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shweta Shankar (\u201826)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mihailo Vucetic (\u201827)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Claire Kuno (\u201827)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can email the leadership team at: <a href=\"mailto:pisigmaalpha@macalester.edu\">pisigmaalpha@macalester.edu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also find information about PSA events on Instagram @macpolisci&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in becoming part of the PSA leadership team, there is an application process each spring for the following academic year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The National Organization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Macalester\u2019s chapter, the Delta Chi chapter of PSA, is one of 500 chapters of the honor society created in 1920 by the American Political Science Association.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each spring, Political Science majors who (a) have junior or senior status; (b) have a 3.2 overall GPA and a 3.5 GPA in Political Science; and (c) have completed four Political Science courses including three at the intermediate level or above, are invited to become members of the national honor society.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As members of the National Honor Society, students are eligible to present research papers at the National Student Research Conference held in Washington, DC each February.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2025, six students were selected to present their research papers at the national conference: Putri Cahyudi (\u201825), Georgia Barnes (\u201825),  Alexis Prathammanon (\u201825), Matthew Kiernan (\u201825),  Amanda Nogueira Moreira de Souza (\u201825), and Jane Dawson (&#8217;25).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members can also submit their research papers to the <em>Pi Sigma Alpha Undergraduate Journal of Politics.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information on the national organization, see:&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pisigmaalpha.org\/\">National Pi Sigma Alpha web site<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PI SIGMA ALPHA IS THE POLITICAL SCIENCE STUDENT GROUP AT MACALESTER, AND IS ACTIVE IN HOSTING SPEAKERS AND ORGANIZING OTHER EVENTS.
