Political Communication, Campaigns and Elections

Professor Christiansen’s primary scholarly interests include the rhetoric of political campaigns and social movements, and the role of technology in shaping socio-political change.  She is at work on a manuscript  about the ways that political monuments in Cyprus exacerbate ethno-nationalist conflict on the island.  She teaches two courses in Political Science: CyberPolitics and the Rhetoric of Campaigns and Elections .  She received Macalester’s 2008 Excellence in Teaching Award and currently directs the Jan Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching .  She loves to visit other countries and enjoys reading novels, fishing, and riding her motor scooter.
