From the Co-Chairs of the Presidential Search Committee

Dear Macalester Community:

We write with an update on the Presidential search process, which is well underway. Following the June publication of the leadership profile, our search firm partner Spencer Stuart began its outreach to identify candidates whose experience fits with the criteria we’ve established for our next President. In addition, they are following up with potential candidates who have expressed interest or have been nominated by members of the Macalester community. In all of these ways, they are building a candidate pool that reflects the full diversity of the Macalester campus and the qualities described in the profile.

The 13-member search committee has met by phone and will meet on campus on Tuesday, August 6. We, as committee co-chairs, will be available from 2-3 p.m. that day in Campus Center 207, and may be joined by other committee members as their schedules permit. If you have a question or would like to meet us in person, please feel free to stop by at any point during that hour.

The full committee will convene again on campus in September, and we will extend a similar invitation to meet with us at that time. We will share details on the September date once they are finalized.

At any point during the search process, we welcome comments or questions from you. Please email them to us at

Thank you for your continued interest in the Presidential search,
