Instructions on how to register in 1600grand are located at the bottom of this page. Pay close attention to your registration start time and the registration deadline. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confirm your registration in 1600grand by the deadline.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hold on to your PIN as it is required during the entire registration process. A PIN is no longer required at the start of the semester, during Add\/Drop.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have questions about registration, please email us at <\/span><a href=\"mailto:registrar@macalester.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">registrar@macalester.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>ACTC Courses<\/em> must be registered using the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/vFCR78Wu7m3HDk6Q9\">Macalester Cross-Registration form<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Independent projects<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, (611-614), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Honors independent projects<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (641-644) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tutorials<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (601-604) require the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/registrar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/REGFORM-Tutorial_Independent_Honors.pdf\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Independent Project\/Tutorial Registration Form<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Once you have settled on the details with your sponsor, please submit the form to registrar@macalester.edu and cc your sponsor and chair for their response approving the form.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internship <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contracts are available at the Internship Office and registrations must be approved by the Director of the Internship Program.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preceptorship<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> learning contracts are available at the Office of Academic Programs and Advising, and registrations must be approved by the Director of Academic Programs.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You cannot register for more than 18 credits via 1600grand. If you want to register for more than 18 credits, you must contact the Registrar&#8217;s Office for additional information. No student can register for more than 20 credits. You may find<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.macalester.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fee information in the college catalog.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"StudentHowTo\"><\/a>1600grand How to Register<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Advising. <\/strong> Before you can register for fall you must meet with your primary adviser. When your adviser is satisfied that you have met your advising obligations, they will give you a PIN (four digits for fall and six digits for spring). You will need your PIN for the registration process<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013be sure to hang on to it.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Start date\/time. <\/strong> Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/registrar\/schedules\/2021fall\/fall-2021-registration-times\/\">Registration Times<\/a> page to determine the first time you can register. Your start date is determined by your current classification, <strong>based on earned credits<\/strong>. You have from that start date until the last day of registration to register and make changes. Once registration ends you will not be able to make changes until the start of the semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Registration: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the Student page of 1600grand, click <\/span>Enter Registration<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, under the Registration header.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Plan Ahead: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you like, you can create an optional plan. Once your registration start time comes, you can use this plan to skip the step of looking up classes when you are trying to register.<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After clicking Plan Ahead, you can click create a new plan. Search for classes and add sections to your plan.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Register for Classes.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once your registration start time has arrived, click Enter Registration.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the Plan Ahead tab and add your plan.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click submit in the lower-right to attempt to register for your plan.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Review the results to be sure you are in the courses you intended and to add other courses if a planned course has filled, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>If you did not create a plan,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> search for courses to add and then submit those added courses in the lower-right.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting Started Before you register for classes, you will need to obtain your four digit PIN from your primary advisor\u2013this PIN allows you to register for classes beginning at your designated start day and time.
