Buddhism, Mindfulness & Meditation

Meditation is offered weekly at Macalester  because we recognize it as a wholesome, time tested practice shared by many spiritual traditions and increasingly practiced by people outside of any particular traditions as well. And, we offer both the meditation sessions and the Full Moon Ceremony as a way to support the student, staff and faculty that identify as Buddhists and seek to ground their ongoing practice here on campus.

The CRSL offers two –weekly meditation sessions, and a monthly Buddhist Full Moon Ceremony. The sessions as well as the monthly ceremony are open to all students, staff and faculty. They are suitable for experienced meditators as well as beginners and there is no cost. The weekly sessions include seated meditation, walking meditation and short discussions on topics relevant to the practice of meditation. The Full Moon Ceremony includes a short meditation period followed by a chanting service followed by light food and refreshments. All of the events are facilitated by our Buddhist Chaplain Marc Anderson. All events happen in the Macalester Weyerhaueser Chapel.
