Here\u2019s a helpful planning list when prioritizing what you\u2019ll need.  In general, rooms are standard dorm room size. (Students can use washers and dryers for free, but must provide their own detergent.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each hall has shared kitchens with microwaves and ovens.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A vacuum cleaner is available for checkout in each residence hall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An iron and ironing board are available for check-out in each residence hall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Basic room dimensions are listed under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macalester.edu\/residential-life\/residencehalls\/\">Residence Halls<\/a>. All campus-provided items must remain in the room throughout the year.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Not allowed in Residence Hall Rooms<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Microwave<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air conditioner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Humidifiers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooling units<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nails or tape that damages walls or paint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Halogen lamps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candles or incense<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Items with restrictions <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The use of potentially hazardous electrical appliances is not allowed to be used in student rooms.
