In 2009 we created a Special Living Option in a section in Kirk called All Gender Community. This community is in section 4 of Kirk Hall with an all gender bathroom. Students apply to live in this space in advance of room draw. Since the All Gender Community is campus housing all Residential Life and College polices apply.
Kirk Section 4 has room for 10 residents: Three double rooms, a triple room and one single room. Rising sophomores, juniors and seniors may live in the All Gender Community.
The All Gender Community promotes and models a safe and inclusive community where people of all gender identities are respected. Our community’s goals include empowering, supporting, and valuing personal identity exploration and expression. Each year incoming residents will have the ability to shape this space for their needs. If you are selected to live in the All Gender Community you will be required to attend a community meeting in April where residents discuss and begin to shape their community for the upcoming year.
Apply to Live in the All Gender Community! Apply by February 24 at midnight Your responses will be evaluated by the charming current residents of the All Gender Community. You will be notified of your application status by March 3rd. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to Department of Multicultural Life or Residential Life.
