Reunion, June 8-11, 2023

All alumni are invited to join the Macalester community as we celebrate Reunion 2023. Our four-day programming includes panels and office hours with faculty and staff, dance parties, campus tours, and opportunities to connect with your class. This year, we are recognizing classes celebrating 5 year milestone reunions: 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983 (including 1981-1985 Cluster Reunion), 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018. These classes will be recognized on campus throughout the weekend.

Not in an official Reunion year? Missed gathering at Reunion 2022? No problem! We’ve redesigned Reunion to allow plenty of time to gather in community together to learn, remember, and have fun! We hope to see you back on campus. Visit our FAQ page to learn more about registration, lodging, and other Reunion questions you may have for the big celebration.

A Story of Success on the 50th Anniversary of the First Graduates of EEO
In 1969, the Macalester community embarked upon an exciting program to expand education opportunities at the college. The Expanded Educational Opportunities (EEO) program enabled Macalester to assume a larger responsibility in the education of young, bright students/folks/individuals whose economic circumstances severely limited their opportunities for higher education. EEO students in the 1969 cohort graduated in three to five years and excelled in their retention and graduation rates, exceeding the general Macalester student population graduation rate by more than twenty points. More than thirty percent of the 1969–1970 EEO cohorts went on to post-graduate work at institutions like Stanford, Harvard, Northwestern, University of Chicago, and other highly accredited institutions—later becoming the mayor of a major US city, executives at Ivy League universities, a member of Macalester’s Board of Trustees, judges, lawyers, doctors, and PhD’s. The EEO program triggered the multigenerational success of the children and grandchildren of those graduates, who would go on to excel and graduate from major colleges and universities across the country.
