Mary Edna Fraser is an artist who used aerial photographs she took of the eastern shores of North America, particularly the barrier islands, as the basis for the batiks she constructed. She collaborated with Dr. Orrin H. Pilkey, James D. Duke Professor of Geology at Duke University, who provided the scientific descriptions of the underlying processes that produced these fascinating landscapes. Curator: Mark Davis, Biology.
