Waterways

Virginia Daley

Virginia Daley’s paintings arise from a combination of her interests in both the East and West. Like the western Luminists of the 1800s, Daley explores the way light reflects off of water, the atmosphere, and land. Her extended horizontal formats and sequential series of canvases are inspired by ancient Chinese and Japanese hand scrolls and screens upon which a story unfolds. Her ultimate goal as a painter of landscapes is to reconnect people to nature, remind them of the earth’s fragile treasures, and rally them to support planet healing practices.
